“The City Politic: Can Mailer and Breslin Put This City Back on Its Feet?” Article by Peter Maas. New York, 14 April, 8–9. Maas, one of Mailer’s campaign advisors, recounts the origins of Mailer’s campaign for the Democratic nomination for mayor of New York and Jimmy Breslin’s for president of the City Council, with brief quotes from both. To a skeptical Jerry Rubin, Mailer says, “Jerry, why not make the machine spiritual…make it hum?” Rpt: 69.80 (partial). See 69.10, 69.24.
