“Tough Guys Make Movie.” Article-interview by Dinitia Smith. New York, 12 January, 32–37. Report on the final days of shooting Tough Guys Don’t Dance in Provincetown. Mailer, Ryan O’Neal, producer Tom Luddy and Lawrence Tierney are quoted. Provides a good explanation of the arrangement with Cannon Films which resulted in Mailer writing the screenplay (five drafts) and directing the film. Mailer also collaborated with Angelo Badalamenti on one of the songs in the film: “You’ll Come Back (You Always Do).” See 84.17, 1986 and 1987 entries.
