“Mailer Feels ‘Responsibility’ for Slaying.” Article by Albin Krebs and Robert McG. Thomas Jr. New York Times, 22 February, Sec. B, p. 4. Advance report on Mailer’s appearance on the Dick Cavett Show, telecast in two parts on PBS, 24 and 25 February. Mailer said, “I have a very large responsibility for the death of Richard Adan.” He also said that he “never thought Abbott was close to killing, and that’s why I have to sit in judgment on myself.” See 80.9 and Abbott affair entries.
