“Norman Mailer: Why Do People Dislike America?” Profile-interview by Oriana Fallaci. The Egotists: Sixteen Surprising Interviews. Chicago: Regnery, October, 1–18. Conducted in April 1967, this unusual interview focuses on the American character, America and Europe, and violence. Rpt: As “Interview with Norman Mailer” (minus the prefatory five-page profile) in Writer’s Digest, December 1969, 40–47, 81; cover photograph of Mailer. Mailer complained about Fallaci’s inaccuracy in 70.5.
