Accompanied by a photograph of Mailer’s six-foot high “Vertical City,” which he and two friends assembled with Lego Blocks over a three-week period in late 1964 or early 1965. Rpt: In a revised form in Cannibals and Christians (66.11), the dustwrapper of which depicts “Vertical City”; same color photograph is tipped in opposite title page of first edition, first issue only.
