Description of a January 1987 PEN fundraising luncheon at the Park Avenue apartment of Saul and Gayfryd Steinberg, attended by Mailer, Allen Ginsberg, Frances FitzGerald, Elaine Kaufman, Donald Trump, Vartan Gregorian and others. Mailer introduced Gregorian as “the pope of literary fund-raisers, and I’m like a young cardinal.”
