“Abbott Rejects Account of Him as Violent Man: Mailer Testifies on Ties to the Accused Slayer.” Article by Paul L. Montgomery. New York Times, 19 January, Sec. B, p. 3. Continuing account of Jack Henry Abbott’s murder trial, at which Mailer testified. At a press conference after his testimony, Mailer said when asked if he felt remorse, “I can’t give you my blood, but you can have my psychic blood. It’s something Abbott’s friends are going to have to live with for the rest of their lives.” See 80.9 and Abbott affair entries.
