“Mailer on Mailer.” Article-interview by Beverly Beyette. Style, Sunday Pantagraph (Bloomington, Ill.), 14 December, Sec. C, p. 1. Beyette is identified as a Los Angeles Times writer and this piece presumably appeared there when Mailer was on a book tour for 80.15. The questions are hackneyed: “Is Marilyn Monroe some sort of obsession?” and “Are you in some way obsessed with violence?” Mailer’s replies reveal his irritation. He mentions this interview in 81.8.
