Speaking at Temple Menorah in Little Neck, New York, Mailer handicapped himself and others in the Democratic mayoral primary. Robert Wagner, for example, was cited as “Wagner (12-year-old gelding by Meade Esposito—Out of Machine): Knows the track, 8-5.” Of himself he said, “First time starter, good barn, 20-1. ***Best bet***”
