“View from Writing’s Heights: Time Arrives for Mailer to Mark 50 Years in Publishing.” Article-interview by Bob Minzesheimer. USA Today, 6 May, Sec. D (“Life”), 1–2; cover story. Mailer discusses 98.7 and reveals that the first printing was 25,000 copies. Besides discussing the collection, Mailer talks about his working methods, boxing, corporations, architecture and the Women’s Liberation movement, which he says was “welcomed by the corporation that now hires women at every level but the very top and pays them 90% of what it pays men.”
