“Page Six: Mailer’s Ex-Lover Writes It Down.” Column by Richard Johnson, with Jeane MacIntosh and Sean Gannon. New York Post, 15 September, 6. Mailer responds to comments by Carole Mallory that she is writing a biography, titled “On Mailer,” detailing her affair with him. In his statement, Mailer says, “I am guilty of a few extramarital episodes over the years, and Carole is one of them. Now, at the age of 72, these are matters to regret since I adore my wife and was much in love with her even when I was being unfaithful.”
