“Maternal Jodie; Mailer’s CIA.” Column by Jeannie Williams. USA Today, 26 September, Sec. D, p. 2. Mailer comments on 91.26: “I wasn’t writing this book to expose the CIA”; and John Simon’s review in the New York Times Book Review, 29 September: Simon “liked the book more than he wanted to.” Williams says the novel “could be the longest hard-cover novel Random House (or anyone) has printed.” See 91.15, 91.16, 91.19, 91.43, 91.48.
