“A Pulitzer-Prize Winner Above the ‘Norm.’” Article-interview by Michael Skerker. Brown Daily Herald, 19 April. After a lecture about Lee Harvey Oswald at Brown University, Mailer answered questions. Asked about his research trip to Russia with Larry Schiller, he said it was disappointing in a way, because he learned that the KGB was not involved in the assassination of JFK. But he also learned a good deal about Oswald: “I found that he was a remarkable fellow in a way. He was one of the few people in the world who understood the United States and the Soviet Union on a local level. He was a poor worker in both countries and how many people can say that?”
