At any rate, I still believe in the basic law or formulation. It is: A refusal to shift sexual gears drives a man into power conquests or impotence, and a woman into power castration needs and/or frigidity. One proof of this is that castrating women (and of course a great many of them can come which is what the vulgar psychiatric social worker or analyst never understands) always have a peculiarly characteristic sexual quality. I’ve never known a castrating woman yet who does not give off an aura of sexiness. It is usually glittering sex—they are the women who promise more than they deliver. And there’s a reason for this. The capacity to deliver exists in them, the sexual energy and awareness is there—only the ability to overcome the sup is lacking.
