Which is why I have such difficulty—up till now—writing articles and giving suitable endings to my books. For, beneath my rational desires, was the knowledge that there is no such thing as a fact or an end, but that one can merely “hook on” to the continuum as an artist, and “get out” as best one can. And what wouldn’t the Freudian analyst have to say about “hook on” and “get out.”
