“Mailer’s Flight to Ancient Egypt.” Article-interview by Bruce Weber. Harper’s Bazaar, May, 160–161, 96, 104. Mailer tells Weber that “the one virtue I lay claim to for this book[1] is that I think I succeeded in creating a psychology that’s comprehensive and owes nothing to Freud.” He also discusses his 1969 mayoral campaign, possible feminist response to the novel, and his frustration in reading the biography of him by Hilary Mills (82.23). See 83.2, 83.50, 84.5.
