Twelfth Round: An Interview with Norman Mailer.” By Robert Begiebing. Harvard Magazine, 85 (March-April), 40–50; cover photograph of Mailer. One of the three or four most important interviews Mailer has given; on the subject of his Harvard experience, it is the best, with especially interesting remarks on the Harvard Advocate (see 41.1, 75.14, 77.2). He comments on all aspects of his career, and at length on the forthcoming Ancient Evenings (83.18). He ends the interview with an anecdote about Ralph Ellison, with whom he attended a 1959 conference in Iowa. Rpt: 88.6. See 59.1559.18.
