Brenda Cliett Thomas is a former collegiate athlete and is currently serving as fire chief for the Macon-Bibb fire department. Thomas attended Florida State University where she was a multi-sport athlete in both Basketball and Track and Field. She was elected as an alternate in the 200 meters for the U.S Olympic team in 1984. After her collegiate career, Thomas served for the Macon-Bibb fire department where she became the first female and the first African American Fire Chief in Bibb County History. To acknowledge her accomplishments, Thomas was later inducted into the Florida State Hall of Fame as well as the Macon Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.
