He has been a professional newspaper writer and photographer, and has published approximately a dozen articles and stories in national magazines. His books include Appalachian Genesis (Bristol: Overmountain Press, 2000) and The Hogs of Cold Harbor (Philadelphia: Whitmore, 2005).
