I have always been the romantic masquerading as the realist. That is what has given the peculiar tension (word echo peculair for peculiar—in the peculiar there is air, there is life) to my work. Now, as I become aware that I am really an enormous romantic my work may suffer tremendously for some time. It is certainly true that the style of this journal is almost unremittingly crude mainly because I have so much to say.
