Out of sight, out of mind. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Both are true. One cannot understand separation without grasping that. For the heart makes unconsciously, and only guilt makes one think very often of those out of sight. When our loves are out of sight the er works on them, steals up on the sup, softens it; the strength of the er is that it retains, it dwells, it elaborates. The sup generally has to use its energy on those people, things, stimuli which are before it.
