And, of course, the little matter of social aims, ideals, values, etc. comes in here. A society like America’s with its suppressed worship of power, glamour, control, manipulation, etc. gives a great reinforcement to the sup—deeply, even er forces begin to believe that one is better off being frigid-powerful (frigidity understood as comparative frigidity—the most important concept in these particular notes) than orgiastically bisexual. So the tendency to fix is hard to uproot, harder I would guess in women than in men because men have a reverse social need—to be a good lover. Which is why, in America, the war between the sexes deepends (deepens).
