Perhaps the sexual explanation is that I use up so much energy in this journal and doing my weight-lifting that there just isn’t a hell of a lot left over. I notice that I start high on this journal every day, or get high in the course of writing—auto-stimulation, and who was it that first called us authors?—and then wear out, feel the ideas become less sharp, the tone begins to wander, until finally in word echoes and consonant chasings I feel depression come on lightly.
