How much real hatred there is over sensibility. The person of less sensibility truly hates or loves the person of greater sensibility (or avoids him or her) because what is involved is one’s close relation to a larger kind of life—and it is most intolerable that we be deprived of that. That is why I have always hidden my sensitivities from insensitive people. I was afraid of their genuine hatred.
