A psychopath expands one element of the emotional spectrum to full size. For example he will see the bona-fide sexual content in everything, but he sees it virtually to the exclusion of all else, and he sees it paranoically, i.e., as filling the world, filling the consciousness of the item’s creator, the item’s audience, and of course, himself. In that sense, television is almost totally psychopathic, and that is part of its fascination. It creates such an enormous Present.
