I know nothing about semantics. They may be good, they may be dangerous. What I fear about them is that something bad, something ignoble, the worship of the word which would fall into disrepute if no attempt were made to save it, may in the future receive added worship—the Victorian chair becomes the foam rubber seat. We may accept the word again on the basis we are now beginning to loathe it—a question of good or bad taste.
