Jeffrey Severs is Visiting Assistant Professor of English at Wake Forest University. He received his Ph.D. in American literature from Harvard University in 2007. His dissertation concerns prophecies of totalitarianism in the postwar American novel, beginning with the works of Mailer. His essay on Vineland and fascism is forthcoming in Pynchon Notes, and he has given recent conference papers on Charles Johnson, Toni Morrison, and John Edgar Wideman.
