This is the age of anticipation rather than the age of accomplishment which was the nineteenth century. Thus, deep-down, what people seek today is the reverse of anticipation—simply, accomplishment, security, just as in the nineteenth century the urge among artists and exceptional ones was to rip up accomplishment in order to find anticipation.
