Contains interview with Elaine Kaufman about the writers, actors and politicians who frequented her restaurant. Mailer is quoted briefly about a fight he had at Elaine’s with Jerry Leiber, the lyricist who wrote the words to “Hound Dog,” among other hits. Mailer spent considerable time at Elaine’s, table No. 4.
