If my identification of red and r seems too pat, be it remembered that red is the color of blood, the color of the sexual organs, it is the color of life in rage (wounds being the result) and in love. And gas is vapor, clouds—the first intimation to the child and the savage that there is a Great Spirit we cannot reach.
