Welcome, and thanks again for volunteering to help edit Project Mailer.

Before you do anything else, click your user name, the red link at the top-right, to edit your user page. Write a brief, professional biography about yourself. A couple of sentences will do. At the very bottom, include one of the following categories: [[Category:Student Editors]] or [[Category:Volunteer Editors]]. Use the former if you’re helping as part of a class. All others should use the latter. The categories are so you get proper credit for your efforts here.

This document outlines the very basics that all editors need to know about this platform, MediaWiki, and this site Project Mailer.

Editing Pages

Formatting

You can format your text by using wiki markup. This consists of normal characters like asterisks, apostrophes, or equal signs which have a special function in the wiki, sometimes depending on their position.

Talk Pages

Every wiki page has an associated talk page, which can be used for discussion and communicating with other users. Talk pages can be accessed by clicking the "discussion" tab at the top of the page. Certain conventions should be followed when using talk pages.

See Help:Talk pages (basic) and Help:Talk pages (advanced).

Signatures

Used to sign all messages on talk pages, you signature is easily generated with a simple code: ~~~~ (four tildes in a row).
