“At Le Club.” Article-interview by Mary Reinholz. Women’s Wear Daily, 16 February, 5. Brief account of a black tie Valentine’s Day party in Manhattan attended by Alexandra and Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., Mailer and Norris, and Mailer’s sister Barbara, who told the reporter that her brother was “very supportive” when she was growing up “short and dumpy” in Brooklyn. On the topic of larger-than-life loves, Mailer said his favorites were “Fidel Castro and Lady X,” but did not elaborate.
