On the occasion of a lecture at Congregation New Tamid in Rancho Palos Verdes, Cal., Mailer spoke with Barker about his life as a writer. He said he was more than 1,000 pages into &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Harlot’s Ghost&amp;#039;&amp;#039; ([[91.26]]) and explained, “When I’m writing a novel, I work at least 200 days a year, maybe 250. I write about five or six pages a day.”&lt;br /&gt;
