“Mailer Sparkplug for Writer’s Congress.” Outlines the fund-raising and organizational work for the upcoming PEN Congress. [[Norman Mailer|Mailer]] is lauded by Gay Talese for coming up with the idea of eight literary evenings to raise needed money: “Without him, and his fund-raising efforts, we would not be having the international congress.” Mailer is also quoted: “I’ve been working on a long novel<ref>''Harlot’s Ghost'' ([[91.26]])</ref> whose subject I would prefer to keep a secret. At present, there are 400 pages of completed manuscript.”
